Marion and I drove to Newmarket to check out the spinning wheels at Gemini Fibres and two yarn stores. Everyone at each place was very friendly and helpful. We tried the Schacht Ladybug which is very cute and the Kromski Minstrel and Sonata. I think a Minstrel wheel will be in my future when I can afford it and can justify the purchase of another wheel.
As for spinning I've decided to spin the odd 4-5 oz rovings I have left and try to sell them on etsy. So far the Blue Moon Fiber Arts Sheep2Shoe kits are my favorite thing to spin and selling some other handspun will be a way to pay for them.
Here is some PortFiber handspun I made. There were 7.4 ounces of roving and I must have underestimated how long it would take to spin and ply that much as a 2-ply because I was fed up with it by the time it was finished.
Not much knitting has been going on. I attempted the Multnomah shawl but got bored with all the garter stitch and bound off before beginning the feather and fan edging. It's a nice sized kerchief. The Noro Silk Garden Sock I used was great to work with. Nowhere near as scratchy as the Noro Kureyon Sock.
